Tuesday 21st July:
We started off visiting
Tel Azeka before beginning a short hike
from Mizpe Masua to The Midras, where we visited
Bar Kochba’s grave. Bar Kochba was the Jewish leader
of what is known as the bar Kochba revolt against the Roman Empire in
132 CE, establishing an independent Jewish state which he ruled for three years.
Our next experience of Jerusalem
was the Haas promenade view point. Here, the whole of Jerusalem can be
viewed, including the sparkling Old City and surrounding walks. Inspired
by the incredible view we then headed to the Ceaser Hotel,
where we will be staying for six nights.
Starting at the Jaffa Gate, this tour provides an amazing way to traverse Jerusalem’s Old City. We were able to Check out the green spaces, urban development and open vistas surrounding Sultan Suleiman’s iconic Holy City structure. We got to see the ancient city on a very modern method of transport and had an amazing time doing it!
Toby Nagus said: "Segways were an exciting new
activity on what can be described as a glorified Unicycle".
In the evening, the madrichim began to prepare us for Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust memorial and exhibition, which we will be visiting tomorrow.
